《东单介绍》

东单位于天安门正东近2千米，东西长安街与东单北大街、崇文门内大街交汇处。东单之名缘于殷都，是远古时期为测量太阳与气象而流传下来的地理名称。古代东方象征春季并立竿为单，以测定阴历春分节气的太阳位置，所以东单就是日出东方之意。

　　

Dongdan is located nearly 2 kilometers to the east of Tian’anmen Square, at the interchange of the East and West Chang’an Avenue, Dongdan North Street and Chongwenmen Inner Street. The name of Dongdan comes from the capital of Yin, which is a geographical name passed down from ancient times to measure the sun and meteorology. East ("dong") symbolizes the spring season and the ancient people sets up a pole ("dan") to determine the solar position of the lunar spring equinox, so Dongdan means the sun rising in the east.
